Okay.... so I bought some quail eggs from the food store. Three just hatched out today. I assumed they were Coturnix, I was right... well half right...

I assumed that the other chicks that had not hatched needed assistance. Well... I pipped into their air sacs, to find, in almost all of them, a semi developed (yet still alive!) bobwhite quail chick. I am worried i screwed them up. Did I? I raised the humidity up to 80% to prevent shrink wrapping the embryos.

Any advice would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! A.S.A.P.

I really don't know but I'd create some sort of cap for the hole in the shell. Try taking a piece of shell from and unferilized egg and patching the hole. you can use a paint brush and some glue (for kids so there are no toxins) and GENTLY paint around the edges. (Keep the area as small as possible so not to clog too many pores.

Worth a shot if no one comes up with anything better. Best of luck and keep me posted!

Geez, I woke up this morning and the one that was moving a lot is no longer moving. :"( I am hoping he's still alive just not active. I am not sure how they would die by removing some of the of shell on the air sac too soon? GRRR!!! I just want them to be okay :(

Try the capping (if you haven't already). I hope your baby comes around!

Okay so now i want to cap them but I'm so scared to open the incubator!

I don't want the humidity to drop. As of now i am positive a 3/6 are alive. 1 looks dead, but he didn't looked good when we opened him.

Sense they lived this long i must be doing something right.... right?
