OK the blood seems to have gone From what I can see from outside the bator there haven't been anymore blood vessels (I CAN'T SEE ANMORE BLOOD), he peeps now and then. he pipped some time last night and it started bleeding at about 1pm today. It's 8pm now, any suggestions.
It can take more than 24hrs. If they ended up pipping through the shell directly it could take 48hrs. Normally they would pip into the air sac, sit for about 24hrs, and then visibly pip the shell before sitting at least a few hours to possibly another 24hrs before zipping. Unless it's one of the last to pip and majority have hatched already I would not worry about it.
OK I'm going to let nature take it's course. I was an early pipper. i really don't want to open the bator at all and help unless I have to. I don't want to get it out if it's not ready, because it it still has it's yolk sac That would be silly.
There is a lot of info. on BYC regarding helping, and there are folks who are passionate about how they feel. I'm one who STRONGLY feels it's never a good idea to assist. If the chick is not strong enough to hatch on its own, there is a reason. But it's way too early for you to be too awfully worried yet! Hang in there; I'm sure he'll do just fine!
