Pipper is FINALLY getting a sibling! :D ~PIC of wet gosling~

My pipper hatched on April 14th and due to incubator spike, lost all the rest that were due... about 5-6 goslings. So, now she finally is getting a sibling. This is whisper! He/She started off as an assisted hatch. I was concerned about her being a little late but saw movement. Because the past day or so have been dry I decided to assist and free the beak only so that it wouldn't suffocate her. From there she has pushed out half way and is now napping. I have her brooder warming that I call the Chick-U because it rhymes with NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) LOL. So, I will probably be up in the middle of the night tending to my new whisper.

So glad that Pipper will soon have a friend. Whisper looks adorable just sleeping there...I have my own little Duck-U set up at the moment with an assissed hatch.. They can be just so fraglie when they first hatch.

Ok, the the update on whisper is that she pushed out and still had a small bit of yolk unabsorbed (about the size of a fingertip, not much). I sprayed her with warm water from the bator bottle, put her bottom part back into the shell and put a sandwich bag with a wet paper towel in the bag around her bottom half. She stayed that way overnight, occasionally chirping and now she has re-hatched, this time completely absorbed and she is still in the incubator drying off. Will post pics when she is fluffy! Every time I come by she lifts her head to look at me so that's really sweet and hopefully a sign that she has some strength!

She is finally in the brooder now and about half-fuzzy. I started calling her whisper because of her "quiet" chirp during hatch but now I might have to change that name... the little bird is now much louder!
She is still weak, always a nervous time...
