I have made a new flock thread!
I will share stories, pictures and important updates.
Note that I do not edit the single profiles with updates. I post updates on the thread.

I raise bantams as pets in my large sub-urban backyard. My flock is family, and I love small, friendly, unusual breeds. Enjoy the thread!

here are the flock members that are no longer in the flock.

Basil was a white frizzle polish pullet. She was one of Pippin's 1st chicks and the only girl. Unfortunately, she died at the age of 2 months.

Pickles, the first born from my 1st hatch. He's a very crazy boy. He was rehomed in September at 6 months old
with his Brother.....

Clover was one of Pippin's chicks, the 1st born. He was rehomed at 3-4 months old, to a good home where he is being used for breeding.

Fries

I bought (September 2020) Fries when she was 6 months old, with her sister, Pippin. She had the honour of laying the first egg of my chicken keeping experience!
She's not really very cuddly, but she tolerates it. She's not the most outgoing and social girl, prefering the company of her sister only. She's probably middle in the pecking order.

Pippin

Fries' sister and "the mama", she is top of the pecking order. She loves to be broody, she raised 3 polish in June, and just hatched another (to be revealed).
She's not a cuddly girl, but will come up close it food's involved! She is quite loud and social.
She's such a drama queen, if she doesn't get what she wants, she'll scream (bakaa bakaa bakaa!) Until I come.

She's a very funny, beautiful girl. She loves hugs. And she's the biggest hen, and top of the pecking order.

Raven

I bought her (and Ginger) at 6wks old from a school in June or July (I can't remember). Raven is very shy, she only stays with Ginger. She likes some hugs, but on her own accord. I'd say she's around the bottom-middle of the pecking oeder

Ginger

Ginger is... Well... Weird.
He's quite "cooky", blind and wobbly. He doesn't crow, or mate.
He loves to follow you around, but he's not the one for cuddles.
He doesnt really have a place in the pecking order, when I think about it, he just pecks his way to the food (never pecks the ladies!) Greedy guy!
He's SUPER protective over Raven. He chased and pecked Darwin when he tried to mate her!

Darwin (nickname: toilet brush)

He's another of Pippin's polish. I'm afraid I'll have to rehome him soon. He's quite skittish, but not aggressive. He's quite funny as well.
Ginger doesn't really like him very much so Darwin is quite scared of him. As a chick, my dad called him toilet brush, because he's a frizzle.

Today- New arrivals!
So Pippin and Blue's eggs hatched a day early.

This is my first time hatching with non-shipped eggs, and I am so impressed with the hatch rate!
