pips and zip and LOTS of pics... Lockdown.......Hatch date 8/28

You even got pics in there WOW! I'm just love those little chicks. I wonder if ours will come early. Looks like they are right on track. I'm not expecting any early here.

Super duper excited for you. THanks so much for sharing. Your hatch is going to help me with the wait.

No problem i was excited when i noticed thye were piping becasue i thought it was way early!!! , now i just dont know what to due do i take them out when they are nice and fluffy or leave it closed until 3 days or what since they arent due until the 27th??

Awesome pics...thanks for posting them!!! Since they hatched so early, and some of the eggs might still take several days before hatching, you'll need to get those babies out after they are dry. You could leave them in for about 24 hours and keep watching the progress of the others... When you take them out, of course do it as quickly as possible and try to keep the temps and humidity up.

Well I have three RIR's left. Still due 29th. This incubation while still feeling like forever has seemed for me to go by more quickly.

These last few days are going to be tourcher though. 7 days left for me.

I think you should let the chick go 24 hours without helping it. Especially with them hatching this early. I had to help a couple of my quail hatch but I waited 24 hours before helping. When I did help, I did the minimum amount necessary. The ones where the shell was only pipped, I just took out a chip or two to widen the hole, and where the shell was zipped I just gave it a little shove to sort of get the shell started in splitting open. Once they had a little help they were able to finish the hatch on their own. It is really important that they do the work of hatching on their own.

I think you can wait awhile on this since they're so early. And I agree that these eggs must have been partially incubated before you started them, because 5 days early is WAY too early for a hatch even if your temps had been high (which they don't sound like they were).... That's my two cents

Thats my Roo. One of only three I'm keeping from this years order. He is a lakenvelder and only 12.5 weeks. He sure "loves" the ladies too. He hasn't come after me and has started to calm down a bit. He is too pretty to send the the freezer.

Thanks. I sure like him.
