pips and zip and LOTS of pics... Lockdown.......Hatch date 8/28

Cluck addict-

If you don't have a lot of eggs, put them on the floor! The rocking and rolling was half the fun! I put down spongy cabinet liner for traction, so they weren't going all "demolition derby" on me.

Mine was a hovabator, so the floor was the wire over the water sinks....

I read somewhere the chicks appreciated a paper towel on top of the wire for foot comfort. Spoiled much?

I'm so excited...it's getting sooooo close!

OK, I'm sorry if this question is really dumb...but how does this work with a broody Silkie? Should I stop picking her up off the nest for the last few days? I always have food and water close to her, but I usually pick her up and put her in the run in the morning for a few minutes so she can stretch her legs and, ummm, poop

She does her business, dust bathes, and then returns to her cage when she's ready. So the last few days...should I just leave her alone and let her sit?

I got some of those spongey shelf liners for the floor of the bator and am officially locked down....
HOW FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I only have a bator but I would let her alone. She knows what to do. Can I ask why did you take her off the nest? Couldn't she get off her self? I'm just wondering because I thought you didn't have to do anything when you have a broody. I've never had one.

Update!

OEGM #2-Pipped at 5pm, out by 615...We were all so facinated I dried out dinner and overcooled the broccoli. But WHO CARES? Chicken TV rocks. Like the OEGB, he was super-active. Had to slip him outta the bator into the brooder.

Sizzle #2- Pipping and zipping. Very noisy.

Americauna- rocking, no visible pip yet.

Laree how fun.

Chicken TV is addictive.... I think I might be truly nutso. I've spent like 3 hours in there watching the little eggs wiggle every now and then. At least I think they are..... that or my eyes are wobbling in my head.

Keep the reports coming
