Heck I don’t know? Probably not to great. Development happens at certain times in incubation. Not by lumens in flashlights

@chickens really this is why I am asking! I don't really wanna mess with them more than necessary as much as I'm curious if anything is developing I want to wait to candle until I can be certain one way or the other

Definitely wait 10 days and then candle once before due.

I just didn't know how bright/good of a flashlight I will need to be able to see through the duck egg shells well.

Day 4 Update:

I saw mama come out this morning to eat and drink. This is the first I have actually seen her leave the eggs. This is good. I wasn't sure if she even ventured out on the days it was snowing, but today we are in melt down again.

I'll see what options are at my hardware store and if they have more than one flashlight I'll choose the brighter of the two.

I like to candle day 12 for duck eggs and 24 hours before they are due caus euro can usually see the young trying to chip out if done carefully

I lay egg sideways in my hand and cup the air cell end to get a direct shine into the egg. Works for me.
