PITBULL ATTACK!!!

Love pits! My uncle used to breed them but as soon as I was out on my own he stopped. I've never owned one but think they are sweet dogs if treated as such!

Cute pics! I have owned and loved pit bulls since my children were toddlers, they are now 15 & 17. Great dogs esp. if raised in a loving enviroment. They ARE terriers however and vermin are to be chased, so introduce and teach boundries to the pup with the chickens at an early age. Enjoy your pup!

My son has been attacked twice in the face by pitt bulls. He's got 2 scars on his cheek and one on his chin.

Some people forget that Pit bulls are named 'Nanny dogs' because of their extreme tolorence with children.
A lot of Pit bulls are violent because they are put in dog fights and feed things like battery acid so they have to be violent not to get hurt. Battery acid, clorine, etc. will cause the dog to be in terrible pain but not die. Every year 2,000 children are kill by their own parents. Every year 5 people are killed by Dalmatians. A Pomeranian killed a six week old child. Only 3 people a year are killed by Pit bulls. Any Pit bull that is treated halfway decent will not attack inless provoked.
PUNISH THE DEED, NOT THE BREED!

Besides that it's hard to tell a 'true' pit form some mongrels or other breeds, my vet said better a pure pit (one of the three bully breeds) then a (pit) mix in her opinion.

I was attacked at the crotch and the arm (nearly breaking it leaving scars) by a Chow-Shepard mix I was dog sitting...(I was 10-years-old) *shrug* It was previously abused and 'storm shy' and they didn't tell me that... I went into his pen in the dark, in a raincoat, in a storm... bad OWNERS letting me do that w/o warning me... poor dog paid with his life.

I had the most gentle, loving, easy going do in the WORLD. He thought EVERYONE liked him... They were TERRIFIED by his size (me was HUGE). NEVER killed anything. He passed away a year ago December. Pit/choc lab mix. Since then, we have gotten a warmerriner (sp) that has killed cats, birds and other small critters. I miss my Dunkin.

How about pouty puppy faces??? Here's my little guy, almost 4 months old now, all worn out from playing. He is a great little guy, doing very well with the birds. Our only casualties have been some flip flops, and a doggy bed. He is a happy little guy and doing very well! The indoor cat is teaching him manners, and everyone that comes over, comments what a nice puppy he is. He doesn't jump, or go wacko, just greets everyone with a smile and a tail wag.

Well, when I saw this post I was just going to put a "me too!" because my neighbor's pit bull has killed two of my chickens. One was a couple of weeks ago, and the other was an hour ago - I happened to walk outside just as it was streaking by me, chasing my pullets. I ran after it, screaming, and caught up to it as it had one of my Columbian Wyandotte's in its mouth. I started screaming at it and pulling at its collar (maybe I should have shouted "drop it" but I wasn't thinking) and in two seconds "Dandelion" was dead. My daughters and I haven't been able to stop crying. This dog also chased our 13 year old cat 20 feet up a tree, from which she fell and had to go to the vet because she was limping so badly afterward. I am not a hater - not of the dog, who can't help it, but of the owner, who recently moved next door and knows his animals has a taste for mine. Sadly, my chickens will never be allowed out of the coop again after tonight. Not much of a life I can give them - thinking I should give them away.
