Our alpha hen, Goldie, is 16 months old, and the boy is about 14 weeks. He's started crowing the past week.
They always like to eat from the same spot, so they often bump The new pecking order is starting to get established. Goldie is still the boss, but he's planning on taking over.

Goldie in the background facing us; the boy has his back to us and his neck feathers flared.

Do you have photos of challenges and changes to pecking order? Post them here!

Here he is at four weeks, staring down Mossy.

Also around 4 weeks old, when he was getting his first look at the two older hens, Goldie and Mossy.

And this was at about 5 weeks, he's sizing up Goldie and Mossy and showing his confidence. Of course, as soon as one of them looked up he scampered off!

Stan has never raised his hackle feathers at a hen. He usually gives them a peck or simply pushes a hen out of his way.

In this photo a hen stares intently at Stan during a submissive lesson.

She really took her time.

These two are discussing perching rights

The hen on the left (broody) puts the girl on the right in her place. Note the interaction of the pair further on the right.

Three way argument. The one in the middle doesn't know which way to go.

When Stan was younger he'd walk with his head down and butt high

These two have a stare down.

Stan has always been flirtatious with the girls. I've never seen him raise his hackle feathers.

These two have a stare off. Surprising the lower hen pushed the other hen off the perch.

Stan bows to a hen to takes his twig.

Look at the body language between these four!
