Hey guys, I know that it's the middle of summer, but I still would like to plan ahead for winter from now... I live in Naperville, IL, and it gets very cold and snowy around here... I have a couple questions regarding winter time for my two pullets, one white leghorn, and one Wyandotte. I would like to know what to do to keep them safe from frost bite or anything like that... I do not have a heater in the cage to heat the cage up, so it will be pretty cold in there... My cage on the sides are half covered with wood on the bottom of the side, and chicken wire on the top... I have their nesting box closed in so that could be a little warmer for them. How much bedding should I put in there? Are there any predators I have to worry about during the winter? Can I let them out of their cage and watch them roam around from the inside of my house? I would like to know what you guys would do to keep them their best during the winter time... Also if you can post some pics of what the coop would be ideal for them in the winter time... Thanks a lot!
