That's the only logic I can think of.
I don't intend to breed them, but I definitely want them to have plenty of sun in the winter. I live in the Portland Oregon area...today, we're floating through an atmospheric river.....forecast for the rest of the week.
Agreed if grape vines are not pinched pruned and trained throughout the growth season. My chickens have eaten a large amount that otherwise would have gone to waste.Beware that vines can take down trees...and trellises...and chicken runs.
