Plants chickens love?

Thank you guys:) I have a question I've read about people planting grass in their runs and covering it with a wire top. Does that really work? Has anyone tried it?

Yes, it does work, but design is important: hole size of the wire needs to let the grass grow out instead of being trapped underneath.
It also needs to allow their beaks access, but still small enough to keep feet out!
It needs support to hold the center up, as well as around the edges.
It should be good quality wire and wood frame that is all strong and smooth to touch so no frayed wire or splinters harm their feet. Welded wire should be positioned with the welded side down.

And I found this link with good info for bird friendly plants:

Thank you soo much!

Yes!!! That's why I would love to find a way for them to enjoy it 24/7 when they have to be in their run

I would love to do that, I probably will. My chickens would go nuts, and my aggressive Mr.Attack the hens rooster needs something to do with his free time.

I think no one's a true chicken owner until you know how much chickens love grass, it's just fact:p

When does this happen? I have 13-week-old Welsummers who love to free range, but basically ignore grass, especially if I throw it in their pen. They do love grass seed, though, and some weeds,
