Plants for around the coop?

I would definitely go with anything that's edible for the chickens, because as the plants grow some of the leaves will be within pecking range. I think an assortment of herbs would be a good choice (plus if you like cooking, you also benefit from it), and you can even let some of them go to flower if you want some flowers in that area.

I've been growing nasturtium outside my run as well but so far the chickens aren't paying it much attention.

My girls love nasturtium but they didn't pay attention to it until I pointed it out to them. Picked some tendrils & started breaking it up for them "mother hen"-style.
They are always so suspicious of anything new. Is it just because they're young or are all chickens like that?
BTW the thing they love most after mealworms are rose petals!!

I agree, they seem suspicious to anything new. I gave them a strawberry yesterday and they circled it for a while until one of them was brave enough to try it. Their head expressions are hilarious. I wish those little thought bubbles would appear over their heads so I could see what they are thinking!
