Plants/Garden ideas for around coop...

I planted lavender and some aloe, but I have been thinking of doing some loofah vines. I like the lavender because it smells so good and I also but some of it in the nestboxes.

About the morning glories and trumpet vines, I thought both of those are poisonous, but I have seen my chickens pecking at the wild morning glories that grow round here.

ETA: I love your coop, we have the same setup, except we are missing the nestboxes, all of mine are milk crates right now. I would love to see pics of how your nestboxes are done.

i had great luck with winter rye that i planted. i tossed a handful down in the run one day for the chickens to eat and a few days latter i was surprised to find it growing. After that i put a lot in the run and i dint even have to keep the chickens out to get it to grow. they probably ate about 1/3 of the seeds and the rest is not growing.
heres some if it growing in the run

I ordered some arctic beauty kiwi plants (a male and a female) for this purpose, which are supposed to be a "noninvasive, fast growing vine" that has beautiful variegated green, pink, and white leaves, and even produces edible mini-kiwis! I live in zone 7 and it is supposed to be hardy. Going to plant these in some big pots to keep the girls from eating it down to the ground before it's established, but I'm hoping it vines on the side of the run to camouflage it a bit and provides some aesthetic appeal. Ordered mine from Spring Hill.

Does anybody know of good plants that chicken really like to eat? Ideally things which will stick around for a while.

I noticed kale was suggested but I have enough trouble getting brassicas to grow for myself. I think the PH is wrong and the slugs eat whatever does manage to grow. Hopefully I wont have much slugs when the hens arrive.

I have a plant in my yard called a "walking iris". It's not really an iris at all, but it's very hardy. Here are a couple pics:

It has shallow roots like monkey grass and grows by little plants that are on offshoots, rizomes I think.

The chickens don't seem to eat it. I'm going to plant it beside my chickens pen. And some other stuff, not sure what.
