Plastic Chicken Wire

I used the plastic "wire" to build an indoor brooder and I loved how easy it is to work with. Depending on how it's installed it could probably keep out anything that leans on it, but it won't stop anything chewing through it -rats and mice make short work of it, trust me -so I doubt it would provide any real outdoor protection.

I love the plastic chicken wire and I use it where ever I can. It is not sufficient to keep out predators. I use it mostly to divide run within my fenced area. I have used it for brooder toppers and anyplace that the strength of Welded wire is not required. I had to make some repairs to an area yesterday that I put up prior to the discovery and I came in with bloody hands. Has anyone ever used regular chicken wire without getting poked, scratched or scraped?

I used plastic wire when I built my coop. I loved the ease of building. Predators are not a problem. I put four strands of hot wire around the entire coop. The highest strand is only about 24 inches off of the gound. I have been thinking about putting one more row above that one. But nothing seems to come close to it, including me. I got into it one day and wished I hadn't. My Lab touched the hot wire one day and she will not go within 150 feet of the coop.

I created a coop out of an old dog kennel and didn't electrify it and within a month I had a coon kill 6 of those chickens. Luckly, most of them were roosters. But sad just the same.
