Playground sand ok for the brooder?

Noob here

I plan on using Sand in the coop, so I was wondering if it would be ok to use playground sand in the brooder. I am using paper towels at the moment but I want to switch over to something else soon and I just thing sand would be great for grit and the scooping. It won't hurt my chicks will it?

It will be fine, but they don't need the grit while on chick feed, and most use pine shavings because they cover the odor fairly well. Whichever you prefer.
