Playing chase with Gizmo and other updates

I know I'm really erratic in coming by to say hello... we are incredibly busy these days, but things should slow down some for the summer.

I just wanted to post something I FINALLY got on video: Gizmo's favorite game, chase.

And show off the progress we're making on the first of the four outdoor pens we're putting in now that we have the land cleared and materials here.





Still working on it, but the shed part is 8x12' and the flight pen area is 12x32'. The other three will build to the right of this one, and all four will be connected so we can open them into being 1 pen for the winter. We've got welded wire goat fencing for the upper part and roof of the flight pen, and 1/2" mesh wiring for the bottom, which we'll bury a foot into the ground all around the outside edge to deter digging in. When no one's looking I'll probably cart home cinder blocks and put them all around the outside as well, but I think I've killed most of the dangerous wildlife in my area by now so I'm not too worried about extra security measures.

Love the video, reminds me of Patch he loves to play chase with the tractor, wonder i ain't run him over yet.

Just a little note, you may have killed all the threats in the area but there will always be more move in their place sooner or later so if you gonna go to the trouble of buring the wire might as well add some extra secutity, hate to hear that you lost a bird cause ya thought all the wild things were gone, they ain't they just ain't got to your place yet.

Oh yeah, I will never stop putting out the trap for the wild things that want my birds, and I'll get to the cinder blocks eventually Just meant it's not top priority right now.

You should bring a video of Patch chasing the tractor!

Yea i need to order my gopro i just been so lazy about stuff like that, everyone would have got a laugh out of him chasing the tractor while i was cutting grass this morning, he runs around like a chicken with his head cut off, darting under the bucket when i slow down, darn near gives me a heart attack sometime his white friend joins in and then sometimes they all join in and then i have to stop and wait till they go find something else to do before i kill them all.

Oh my gosh, that sounds like a real hoot to watch

It's probably less funny when you are trying to get stuff done though

It don't bother me much, i am just scared i am going to kill some when they all start running the gauntlet around the tractor, they are freaking crazy practicing their get away looks like a bunch of ostrichs

Man I miss it when Peep would do that. He would sometimes jump around and run and I would do it with him. Now if I do that he looks at me like I am crazy. Oh well the dog really loves playing with me.

I worry when I am in the pen hammering or digging. They get their heads so close to what I am working on and I do worry they will get hit with the hammer or something but they are good at staying just as close as they can without getting hurt.

I love your videos I need to remember to make some this summer now that I am OUT!!!

I know that feeling darn busy bodys

I covered an area in my garden with weed blocker because i wanted to plant a new strawberry bed, them darn birds pestered me to death, next day they doug holes all in that weed blocker 200 feet of it to be exact
