Playpen brooder?

Anyone use a pet playpen like this as a brooder?

What is the minimum space needed for 5 standard chicks (buff orpington, olive Egger, 3 types of wyandotte)? Getting them mid may so they should be okay to go outside at 6 weeks.

These come in a small (27 in diameter, medium 36, and large which is 48).

Will be using the MHP not a heat lamp.

I love mine. It is 62 inches around. Plenty of room for my six girls

For keeping them up to 6 weeks, I'd aim for around 1.5 sq ft per chick.

I use pine pellets so it lasts a while. I will either scoop it out with dust pan or use the shop vac

I have 9 3 week olds in a pack and play right now and everyone seems to be doing well! We originally order 6 but the co-op gave us 9 had to do a lot of adjusting! lol
