the support group for those still waiting for chicks!

I've been waiting longer than most, believe me.

But I picked them up this morning, all are in good shape- beaks normal, all with good legs, unmarred fluff, clean bottoms. They ate within minutes of arrival, drank water off the tip of my finger and all use the waterer now; they rush to the edge of the brooder when I arrive and they let me stroke them. They poop, they groom...

Unbelievable. Adorable..

Now if I only knew what they are! At the co-op they said 'brown layers'. Well, that's good but the shipment was 'mixed bin'. Anyone care to hazard a guess?

I'll get better pics, soon. I waited until they fell asleep then turned off the infrared lamp to get the pic. I was so shocked at their friendly attitude. I mean, the curled finger works on kittens, even ferals, but who knew it worked on chicks. Some of you probably did, but I thought it would take a while. They're not afraid when I'm over them either.

Red sex links or Buff Orps you say?

The co-op is using a new hatchery, I can't imagine why they don't ask what the breeder stock is. Yeesh.

Congrats on the babies, they sure are sweet. Some of them look my my Red Sex Links did as babies, some also look like my Golden Comets as babies. Anyone's guess i suppose. Enjoy them and the best of luck.
