So my sister in law has a flock of 9 leghorns - all from the same clutch, a little over a year old. Only one of them has a severely dirty butt and may not be laying as they only got 7 eggs today and normally get 9. My question is - if only one chicken has this dirty butt, is it more likely a digestive issue / health issue with this one particular bird… wouldn’t they all have dirty butts if they had worms? What would you recommend for her to do? I already said to wash, check vent for fly strike, swelling or a foul odor. Am I covering all bases? And does the vent look swollen?

Somehow I don't have an alert for this.

Glad the prolapse went back in.
For this gal I would still give her Calcium (1 Caltrate with D3) once a day for a few days to help with retention.

White Leghorns are egg making machines or mine was. I always worried about prolapse with her, but she ready took Oyster Shell. Her shells were always good quality, but some hens may need an extra boost now and again, so this one she may want to band to observe unless she can id her without it. Any signs of trouble, pop her with extra Calcium for a few days.
