Illia- I was pretty sure she is a mixed breed- or maybe just mixed variety of wyandotte. I got the egg from someone whose chickens were a mixed batch(surprise special) from Ideal last year(I don't know what kinds exactly). It is certainly more likely that she would be a mix. I'm okay with that. I think she's cute. My husband named her Speck today
bustermommy-I bet they didn't identify that bird as a columbian wyandotte because those were white chicks, I believe. Columbian Wyandottes are grayish as chicks. That would be my guess.
Thanks all, I feel much better about my girl now! Poor thing got all but 2 tail feathers plucked out today! She is low on pecking order, but usually the girls aren't rough about it! Hopefully it is a fluke event, but I will be watching.
