PLEASE: Can anyone tell if these are pullets or cockerals?

Wondering if you can tell from these pics which are male and which are females?
Also, # 4 Nellie: Shes suppossed to be a barred rock but there are no white spots?

the 4th and 7th pictures look like roos but can't see combs on all of your pics. It's too early.

# 4 Nellie? The all black? If I had to guess (and this IS my 1st time with chickens, I would have sworn Nellie was my "for sure" girl
# 7 is the same as #6 and again this would have been my 2nd "For sure" hen!

Dottie is a rooster. The barred rock with no bars may be a black sex link. I think the scraggly barred one might also be a rooster. Others look girly so far.

I'm not very good w/ the big combed breeds (mine are all pea combs) but I'd say Dottie for sure is a boy.

Don't worry. Time will tell. I have ten 5+ week olds and am really sure one is a roo. The comb is HUGE compared with his sister and his behavior is now unmistakable. I will have to rehome him due to my city ordinances. Just enjoy them right now. Time will tell.

Nellie is really to young to tell...watch the comb. It is not red at all, just large. Some of my early ones looked large but haven't changed at bit.

6 & 7 still look rooish to me but keep me updated.

Nellie does look like a barred rock. I think its too early to tell the sexes. Mine are 7 weeks tomorrow and I "think" I have 2 roos!!. Only because one was a free rare suprise chick and they usually are!

So when I take mroe pictures as they age, whats the most important thing to catch in the pic? The comb? tail feathers? size?

The comb mostly. Tail feathers won't matter for awhile since the tail feathers and the saddle feathers, the ones that curl down just in front of their tail feathers, grow out later.

Combs seem to be the most helpful early on.

But you never really know until they crow or lay an egg!
