America has a diverse landscape, but it's the people that make it what it is. For the most part, I think you'll find Americans to be well represented here on BYC. We're honest, fun, hardworking individuals, who for the most part assume that rewards must be earned. Of course, there will always be the ticks on the rear of society. Lately, it seems like we're infested. We're generous, but we don't like be told that we are obligated to share or be guilted into sharing. We are brought up to believe that the majority should have it's way, but recently it seems that the minority seems to rule. We are almost tolerant to a fault, by trying to please everyone all the time. Trying to balance accepting the continuous waves of new cultures, languages and religions, without offending anyone with our existing cultures and beliefs. Right now, many Americans are learning the difference between a need and a want (a little late, but better late than never). We're waiting for our government to catch up. We have become too reliant on credit. My understanding is that we differ alot in that regard, from other countries.

If you can handle our loud, brash and nosey ways (things I've heard we are), grab a chair, noone's allowed to leave my house hungry and unrested.

I moved to Texas almost 4 years ago. I live in a smaller town (pretty much, most towns are smaller compared to San Diego). The pace is much more laidback here than in SoCal. There are rivers nearby, so everything is green, except during winter, when most plants go dormant. The weather gets into the low 100's in the summer, but it's not usually humid. We don't usually get snow, but we got some short-lived flakes this year! I don't go out, so I can't report on the nightlife. However, we do have Schlitterbahn, which is usually the #1 pick for waterparks on the Travel Channel and we get a lot of tourist during the tubing season.

America can't be explained, she has to be experienced. America is a land of seeming contradictions - cities with glowing facades and dark underbellies to wide open spaces with welcoming friendly smiling faces and sometimes a desire to just be left alone to live life.

Here in NE Ohio, just an hour or so from between the old-time big steel cities of Cleveland and Pittsburgh, there is a thriving Amish community driving horse and buggies on the dirt road.

Visit small colleges on your travels, they are usually tuned in to pulse of the area.
I LOVE THIS one liner!! “America can't be explained, she has to be experienced.”
So very true!!
