Please explain the chicken saddle...

I am very curious as to the function of said saddles.

Saddles are used to spare your hens backs and sides from roosters when they are a bit too amorous (sp?)

I make mine out of regular duct tape

You put saddles on the hens so when the roosters "get them some" they don't tear up the hens backs. Got it now?

I would like to know also. How do you make them out of duct tape? My roosters favorite hen is looking "really liked".

You supposedly can actually tape the duct tape across their backs and as the feathers grow in on the bare skin, the tape will eventually release. Haven't tried it-I use regular saddles. Check out this thread with pics of them on my girls:
