This is my bluebells (roast) egg she's been laying for around 3-4weeks had some really good eggs from her but I notice the last two days she hadn't laid I went in the coop today and found this plus it's looks like a squashed one. I know this usually means they need Calsicum which I provided right from day one as in ouster shell. I'm not sure what else todo and I'm worried for her. Please help. Zoe x

Some birds don't seem to eat the oyster shell, so a layers feed (or crushed egg shell) works better. Does she have access to clean water and food at all times? Unless she has some illness I would think it must be her diet, although I must say I've never had any eggs look like that.

Yes she has access to layers pellet and clean water. When she started laying we got a few double Yolkers. Hormones I got told. She was the last to lay so may have felt rushed to catch up! X

My hen id that once too. She dropped one egg with soft shell and the other without a shell. It happens in young hens sometimes or because of stress or vitamin D deficiency. Whith my hen she didn't laid and egg for two days after that. On the third day she made a perfect egg again and it never happend again.

My hens did that often early on. They worked it out. Save the shells from the eggs and give them back crushed. They love them and helps with the calcium. Mine never took to oyster shell.

Thank you so much I will try the egg shell I was worried they may start trying to eat there own eggs xx

That's why you crush the eggshells first, so that they don't look like eggs. You can also feed your chickens scrambled eggs. But never leave a broken egg like that in there or they might get the taste for raw eggs.
