Please help - Approx 6 month Hen off her legs with curled toes

First try putting a radio out there, seems to help a little with keeping the critters away, exspecially my favorite enemy the Raccoon.

Second, I have a mean rooster as well, what I have been doing is you pull on his waddles. YEH, you can't negotate with them, but tugging on the waddles put you in CHARGE. Thats the only way I found out that works, it takes a few tries before your rooster will get the hint and make him think : "if I peck at her, she's going to tug on me, hell NO". My mean rooster's will now look away when I'm near instead of pecking at me.
HAHA this is brilliant however he doesn't peck me he fluffs his neck up, jumps at me and tries to spur me the little bugger!!!! If I put the broom up it knocks him back but he always comes back for more!!!! Even after chasing him round the garden several times with said broom!!!!!!!! All makes for some good clean fun I suppose!!!!!

Yep, we'll just sit it out! I guess she won't mind a few more weeks. Poor thing. I'm just so glad that finally I am doing something about it.
I've got a good feeling about this and hopefully soon she'll be

Well... I went to get her out her little cage yesterday evening to feed her and she was stood bolt upright in there! I thought stupid boyfriend has segregated the wrong chicken!! When I got close, nope it was her! Couldn't believe it! I thought it was a miracle cure, although when I took her out and put her on the ground she seemed to be the same. However some improvement must have been made as she was definitely stood up! I hope this was not a false glimmer of hope! How many tablets did you put in? I have no idea if one is right or not in about 600ml - I might try two?!?!?!

Pamela -

I am so glad to hear there is some progress. I have had ill, injured/emaciated feral chickens come in for care and many did very well. But is can be a very slow process. Having the bird stand up is huge. As long as you have the time and commitment to providing supportive care, the bird has a fighting chance.

Some general rehabilitation thoughts: I often feed plain yogurt on small pieces of soft bread, especially if I am using homeopathics or antibiotics. It is easy for the bird to eat and digest, and provides good digestive flora. And hydration is critical when bringing a bird back.

Best of luck to you.

That's great Pamela!!! Bump seems to be doing o.k too... She isn't really standing up yet but she is moving around a lot more and quicker if that makes sense. Keep us posted on the progress please!

Well for my little guy I did a full tablet with a quart of water. So that's about 950 ml, you may want to go a little less but it won't hurt. I would not go more then that though
