PLEASE HELP.. Araucana, Roo's or pullet's??

Yeah I wouldn't rely too much on the color of the comb. I've had hens get pink combs early and I've had roos take forever before showing any color. I usually try to go by size and the shape of the hackle/saddle feathers. Pointy usually indicates a male but not always lol chickens are too complicated to ever truly be certain until close to maturity with some breeds

Thanks.. It's me being inpatient lol.. The reason being I'm not just bringing them up for myself, but for my grandad too and wouldn't mind at a couple of egg layers each.

With my luck, I imagine me getting all cockerels ha!

Keep us posted on what sex they turn out to be.

You can see my Lavender Araucana in my avatar - cute little thing she was.

Aww I definitely will keep you posted.. I'm just sorting out the coop and run ready for them going outside in a couple of weeks.

I will post some pictures of them outside when they are at 8 weeks. Then you can place your bets ha!

Hope mine turn out as nice as you's in the avatar!

Has fighting got anything to do with gender.. Or is it just an early dominance thing??

I think it's just a waiting game for these ones.
One of my Faverolles chicks had a deep pink comb from very early on, but it was clear she was female from the feathers. She's also one for chest bumping and fighting the others, although she is the smallest one.

They're absolute stunners though! Please post some pics when they're fully grown - I love araucanas!

It's the biggest chick, the one in the first photo, that's throwing its weight about. With the classic peck on the back of the head. Probably just a dominance thing like you say.

Ill post pictures when they're 8 weeks, which is 3 weeks time. They look better now even just from the previous photos.

Just a little update on the just if anyone is interested. They are now a few days over 6 weeks old and all outside in a enclosed pen, within the run with my other hens. They seem to be doing well, they looked even better before we had a little bit of rain!

Chick number one.

Chick two.

Chick three.

Chick three.

All seven chicks in their pen.
