I am with Casportpony, she may need calcium. First off make sure that there is no egg or shell in her vent, this could lead to infection. I give my layers oyster shells, and I feed back egg shells. Just be sure to crush them up so that they do not resemble the eggs they lay! Glad Gertrude is doing well.So another question for you all! Sorry for all the questions, we are first timers here, and have had chickens for 2 months so still learning a ton of stuff!
So our injured girl, gertrude, laid another egg today, however this one was soft, broken and gross, is this because she's injured ? She's away from light ( other than heat lamp) , she is currently in basement,
On a happy note the rest of the chickens who escaped the attack don't appear traumatized as we got 6 eggs from them today!
