If it's a barred rock i'd say almost 100% it's a hen because the barred rock roosters are a lot lighter in color. The roosters also stand much taller and look skinner than hens.

that is definitely a BR rooster, if it just lost its peep and has a comb that big than it must be a roo, and his barring is to close together to be a hen.

I think pullet. She is to chubby and low to the ground plus she has nice dark coloring and it looks to be a blustry day when you took the pic and those "saddle feathers" are most likely turned feathers from the wind.

it is a roo 100%...what color are its legs? on my screen for some reason they appear to be whitish while others see yellow/orange...if they are yellow the yea i agree barred rock roo. i'm sorry but those hackle and saddle feathers are very visable and i'm sure that many feathers like that is not caused by the wind, let alone how long they are...
