Please help. Bumblefoot surgery did I do it right? :PIC:

Goodness, your a lot more brave than I am! GREAT job!! Be careful with the peroxide, having a medical background and fixing up my equines, we are told not to use hydrogen peroxide, it will damage the good skin and cause a delay in healing.

Thanks! I won't be using peroxide anymore. It was useful during the procedure as the poor thing was bleeding so much and I couldn't see a dang thing until we put the peroxide on, then it didn't bleed as much. Now she's got a scab over it already but it's still swollen.

How bad would it be if I didn't cut the rest out? Could I just do the Tricide-Neo method mentioned in this post? https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=303829

Thanks
again everyone. I was so worried I hit a nerve, broke her toe, etc, etc, etc...I guess I will just keep watching her for now. She's having a blast in the warm bath right now...about to redo her dressing before putting her to bed. She was such a little trooper, only tried to peck me a couple times. ha ha.

Tricide Neo works, I've used it for small bumblefoot problems. You must put it in distilled water and soak the foot twice a day for 5-7 minutes. The problem with tricide neo is that it takes time...too much time to work on large scabs or multiple scabs, months even. Just for the smaller scabs it took almost a week for it to cure/heal my chickens. Also somewhere in that thread it is mentioned that tricide neo shouldnt be used on bumblefoot that has had minor surgery already performed, such as in your case. Yet others have done so without any problems. That will be up to you though if you decide to use tricide neo.
I think you should wait about 3 days and give it some time to see if the swelling goes down. If it doesnt you might have to go back in there and dig around some more and start her on a course of antibiotics. When you change the dressing, put iodine on the gauze, neosporin in the hole, tape it and wrap it up like you've been doing. That's the way I do it and have had it heal in 4-6 days depending on the size of the hole. It appears yours might take a little longer.
