Yeah, I read the entire article. There's not much I can do right now (I'm not sure exactly what to do) but a huge storm is here, so I have to shut off the computer. I'll be on my phone to check in, though. :)

The storm is very violent but it brought the temperature down to 88 degrees! I hope it helps a little that the temperature went down...

Oh, my Lord, what is wrong with her ear? That isn't normal at all, not what I expected. A picture is worth 1000 words. She is in bad shape. I hope you removed her from the flock; if not, DO IT NOW!

She needs to be put down, I'm sorry to say. You can't fix this one. IMO. Even if you treated it, it looks like something contagious to me. And it's really advanced-looking-gosh, how long has this been going on? That huge hole in her ear didn't happen overnight. Looks like a raging infection. She must be miserable.

Lets not put her down so fast. This could be something that she got in her eye or ear or ate even. I would separate her and see if she showed more signs and symptoms before I actually put her down. Have a look down her throat. Shine a flashlight up her nose holes and see if there is something in there. Is she acting like she is suffering, clawing at her head or anything like that? Is she eating and drinking? Put her someplace quiet so she doesn't start stressing and keep calm. From the looks of the first post this was something that came on rather acute?

Hope she get better

Okay, this is not something she ate. This is a raging infection that is obviously affecting her sinus cavity, eye and ear. It has progressed way too far already and this hen is suffering. There are some harsh realities of chicken keeping and this is one of them-to alleviate suffering, not prolong it.

Have you removed her from the others? If you haven't, do it and do it now. Put her in a cool place until you get your wits about you and make a decision on how to proceed with her--you should never leave a symptomatic bird with the flock.

Wheezing can be from impaired ability to breathe in extremely hot weather, especially if the bird has ever had a fungal lung infection or pneumonia in the past. I have a rooster who has serious issues in the heat and humidity, but he is not contagious and I know why it happens with him.
