Niacinamide which is also known as nicotinamide is a form of niacin and will work well in treating niacin-related deficits in birds. It is used because it has proven its efficacy over the years for treating these types of problems. t is preferred to the other form of niacin ( nicotinic acid) as it does not cause a flushing effect in birds which can adversely affect vitamin absorption. It is under my impression in many cases veterinarians will recommend this form for treating severe niacin deficits.Niacinamide is not niacin though. They are two different kinds of vitamin b-3, which means they are processed differently and have different effects.
