Please help! Duckling struggling to breathe?!

No they were just in there for 5 mins, and we took them to the vet who said that Baytril should help with any infection and he's not sure what else it could be

That's good, hopefully he will get better than. Please keep us updated on how he is doing though, I am curious how he will turn out. Good luck!

Baytril is a very strong antibiotic and I would suggest you put them on a probiotic along with vitamins, You can get both at most feed stores of TSC and it can go right into their water. Hope the lil one pulls through.

Baytril also can cause inappetence in other animals. I have had issues with it with my chinchilla, guinea pigs and cats when using it over the years. I imagine ducks might have the same issue. So, I had to syringe feed along with using it in the guinea pigs and cats. With the chin, I called the vet and got something else.

Off topic slightly, does anyone on here know if Critical Care by Oxbow can be given to ducks. It might be good to know if they can be fed that in cases of sickness or lack of appetite.

What exactly would I syringe feed a duckling? And I have noticed that he seems to be smaller than his duckling sibling, but maybe force feeding could cause more stress? Also, would I have to find a duck specific probiotic or can poultry ones be used?

I know people will purree duck food with veggies like peas and I think I heard oatmeal then syringe feed.

I would want to be really really sure of what I was doing to avoid sending food into the little's lungs.  And poultry probiotics are what I use.

How do you syringe feed without getting into lungs? I've been syringing antibiotics into the little guy for a few days now so how do I know that didn't go into his little lungs?
