Yes that's fine, do not turn them! It disorients them. They know what they are doing. I think you should candle a few very carefully and quickly and see if you can see and veins in the small end of the egg. If they have been pipped for 48 hours they most likely are shrink wrapped. Did you read Sally Sunshine's article I posted on the other page? I think you will have to assist these. 2 days is a long time IMO.I have some pipping at the underside touching the bottom of the incubator...is that okay? They're all pipping on all different sides of the eggs! Lol
He's moving still!
Lol yes it's ok. You can use a bit of oil too. Can you take a few candling pics while you candle? Have some help. If you do not see any veins I would start assisting. Continue the pip uo into the air cell and see what you can see. Pics help.Okay, I was afraid if I did the water I would add too much so I didn't do it. I chickened out. (Which, to me would be a GREAT pun... But these are quail so this is serious!)
Thank you for the advice. I did read her post since you told me!Yes that's fine, do not turn them! It disorients them. They know what they are doing. Don't use water, it'll just dry back out fast.I would also dab a gloved finger in clean water and just touch the pip to transfer a tiny drop of water to keep the membrane hydrated enough to avoid getting too tough for them to break or shrinking too tight on the bird. Just a very little drop
What incubator do you have? Just curious.Awesome to see a trooper made it out!
Hopefully the others have rallied and made an appearance. Every time I use an incubator I end up assisting at least one hatch. I'm not a fan of them...at least not my cheap chineezium brand. It's all alarms and sleepless nights.
