Ignore my response on another thread now that we have additional, more accurate, information on this thread.

That is a crow from a juvenile rooster. They are pretty pathetic when they first start to crow. He'll get the hang of it soon.

No illness, no gapeworm, just 100% male.

OH MY GOODNESS! And I was so anxious for " her " to lay eggs!!!! Oh wow. Thank you guys so much! I'm not very educated when it comes to poultry.... lol. I am so relieved that everything is in order. but what am I going to do with a rooster in my house?? Won't he make lots of noise?

Yes, he will make lots of noise.

His crowing will become louder and more frequent. Also, sometimes as they approach puberty hand raised roosters can become human aggressive.

Some roosters are sweeties from chickhood into adulthood (my Barnevelder rooster is such example); however, many become stinkers as those teen hormones hit.

Never put up with an aggressive rooster. Re-home to a farm or make chicken and dumplings.

If he is a sweetie, and you'd like to have fertile eggs to increase or renew the flock, I can recommend the "No Crow" collar. I've used it very effectively with no ill effect (just check periodically to make sure the feathers are not causing any irritation). It acts like a dog collar not allowing the rooster to swell the excess skin in his neck. The release of that "bag" is what causes the loud sound of the crow. They eat, crow, mate, defend the flock just as normal, only at about 1/10th the sound level.

But only keep a rooster if you have a flock that requires it or you truly want to keep this boy. Otherwise, he'll be happier with his own flock on a farm where he can crow his lungs out with no annoyance to neighbors.
