The door on our current run opens outwards....making it impossible for us to use the prefab run that we bought.
We should have thought this through more.

I'm using this waterer, because it came with the rental:

It is in one corner of the coop, raised up on bricks. It is somewhat under the roosting area, but the whole coop is somewhat under the roosting area. The reason that I haven't moved it into the run is because there's no easy access for me to get to it every day.
I wish it COULD have a better location...the whole coop is under the roost. It's TINY. I'd put it in the run, but can't easily access it there to refill.I have a similar water. It sits on a tree stump and stays clean. Sounds like yours needs a better location than under the roost.
I use one like that. I like it. Have you raised it up like on two bricks? That helps sometimes.I'm using this waterer, because it came with the rental:

Yep. I tried making it higher with four bricks, but some are chipped and it leans and pours out.I use one like that. I like it. Have you raised it up like on two bricks? That helps sometimes.

I think that we're going to get some chicken wire. I didn't even think of leaving off the entire end panel. We've already built it. Hopefully we can get lots of chicken wire and I can make some chunnels as well! That's a bit optimistic to hope for, though.https://www.wayfair.com/pet/pdp/arc...oor-chicken-run-with-mesh-cover-aosc1611.html
So I'm using that link, which you previously gave, to look at the prefab run.
I see it has an opening in one end--are you saying that is smaller than the door of the existing run?
Does it work to leave off the entire end panel of the new run, thus making a bigger hole in the end?
Or if you have some chicken wire or hardware cloth, you can put the new run a short distance away, and use the chicken wire to connect them together. The open door of the existing run could even be one side of the connection, leaving just the other side and the top to deal with.

That's a good idea! I am going to try to go for the chicken wire so that I can use excess to make chunnels. Chunnels I think would be good because I could close off the end, give them some shade and some food and water, and be set to access the entire coop without pesky chickens bothering meI suggest you measure and see whether removing that panel would help. If it won't, then chicken wire is the solution. But if removing that panel would fix the problem--maybe some unbuilding is in order![]()
