I have a BPR that started to lose feathers on her head after she got a bad case of frostbite. Since then her comb has healed but she has kept losing feathers gradually on her head. Then this passed month she has lost a ton of feathers on her head so now near the back of the comb and half way up on either side of her head she is almost bald!!!!!! I have checked for mites and lice and have found neither. She acts normal and eats properly. The only other problem with her is that she gets poop stuck to her fluffy butt.
Should I be worried??? I'm a very high stress person and this is freaking me out

Thanks in advance,

How does the skin look where she has lost the feathers? I had some chickens that I helped treat for extremely scaly leg mites and one had them in her head. I could not see them. THe only way I knew she had them was the feathers were falling out and when I treated her...the skin wiped off too!

Here is a picture. You could not look and tell what was wrong....just that something was. These chickens were at a Pioneer settlement educational type place and the people taking care of them were new to it.

thanks so much for the picture! Her skin does not look like it. So it is not scaly leg mites. BUT yesterday I saw said chickens friend start pecking her I thought her friend would never hurt a fly. Guess I was mistaken. So she could be getting hen pecked. I will first see how her friend treats my new chickens I got before I turn this hypothesis into a theory!!!
