I went to the feed store to get more chick starter and found a baby easter chick (teal blue) on its side in the chick brooder. Of course they gave it to me. You can stand him up ok but he rocks back with his feet in front of him on his bottom and then falls to the left. I held him to some water and as long as I stabalized him he could get a drink. Whatcha think my chicken buddies? Can we help him? I would post pics but my 12yr old is not home to help me and I am a moron about that stuff.

shipping was probably hard on him. Get some protein and sugar into him (plain yogurt and a SMALL amount of molasses) via syringe. If he starts getting stronger, try to get him to eat some chick starter mash with some boiled egg smashed up into it. Good luck!!!

You are so kind!

If they get too dehydrated and/or their blood sugar is too low, they have trouble drinking and eating. If you can get something into him, even a little sugar water, then he may start feeling good enough to eat and drink on his own.

Good luck!

Poly-Vi-Sol! Poly-Vi-Sol! Poly-Vi-Sol! They are (human) baby vitamins, get the kind without iron. I use a couple drops in a half cup of water for weak chicks, a full squirt per quart for general chick use.

I had couple baby chicks that were weak like this in my last batch and giving them P-V-S made them stronger in HOURS. It is MAGICAL. BYCers swear by it because it works!

thought I would add some notes. He is a few days past hatch as he has some white where wing feathers are coming in. he is doing good except his legs don't work right. I love everyones advice and good wishes. I just gave him some poly visol. Forgot I had some for baby cottontail rescue. I propped him kinda in a little bowl of food and he is eating, eating eating as I am typing.
Keep praying, crossing fingers and offering good advice friends!!! He is precious even if he is a worthless colored easter chick and probably a rooster to boot!!!

i just rescued 2 silkies from a meat market and they were acting sorta like what u just described. I gave them some sugar water on day one and the next day diluted gatorade, and i fed them some scrammed eggs, wet mash and yogurt and they are now doing much better so i recommend all those things plus some vitamin supplements in the water
good luck
