Cornish X Rock are the ones with short life span. Meat Birds.

What do you mean by short? i really hope my cornish is PURE cornish and not cornish X rock

A Cornish cross is bred esp. for meat purposes they are also called broilers. They are meant for eating and are not meant to live any longer than 8-9 weeks.
A pure bred Cornish will have a normal happy life span like any other chicken.
The chickens pictured in my avatar are two dark Cornish chicks. They are a bigger than standard sized chickens but considering you bought B.O.'s they will be a larger breed also, so you won't have a problem.
I've also learned (from my experience) that Cornish pullets are VERY sweet. I had a girl that would come sit in my lap and sleep in my hands.
Check this out on feathersite:

Your parents let you get some chicks huh?

My first try with Cornish X Rock I butcher the rooster at 9 weeks. Had a Idea to keep the pullets for eggs. Bad idea they ate way to much for the eggs they produce. Nice brown eggs, lots of double yolker. They had leg trouble, end up butcher them at 8 months. lost alot before that.

Now days they make it to 10 weeks Max. Both sex. After 10 weeks they eat to much for the weight gain.

the good news is that the chick i think is cornish has less feathers and hasnt even started growning his/her tail feathers like the other chicks have. are regular cornish slow growers or about average? i know that cornish x rock are fast growers. in about a week will i be able to tell if it is a cornish or cornish x rock?

That one light yellow one looks like a Cornish X just like my 2 did ( are). I have 2 and that is what they looked like. It is weird now that they are almost a month it looks like my 1 Cornish x has some red chest like the buff Orps..maybe it was mixed with Buff Orpingtons?

i really really hope it isnt a cornish x rock! but thank you every one who is replying. in about a week i will post pictures agan and ask what you think.
