Ok that must be why it doesn't always work. This is nothing more than an old wives tale just like the original thing that led the OP to this situation. There is absolutely 0 scientific backing to "sexing" a bird with this method.

As they stated earlier, the chick kept getting worse and worse, waiting any longer would only serve to lengthen the time of suffering. 24 to 48 hours is what I personally would consider appropriate to see if they were going to get better. It was time to put the little one out of their suffering.I think you probably broke it's neck or at the least somehow pinched it's nerves.... why didn't you wait a little longer?
Im so sorry you've gone through this. But you handled it very well! Like others have already said.. we all make mistakes.... its not the mistake that counts, it's whether or not we learn anything in the process that counts! And you have learned a hard lesson.. Hold your head up, be proud of yourself for seeking help and being able to share your mistake with others. Its how we learn from one another. All I can do is learn to cope with it, I used to always count my chicks now it was always 14 now when I count it’s 13 and it breaks my heart somehow it’s constantly playing all over again in my mind but I’ll get through it hopefully
It could have been something like a temporary paralysis due to hanging the chicks head and pinching some nerves or whatever. As they stated earlier, the chick kept getting worse and worse, waiting any longer would only serve to lengthen the time of suffering. 24 to 48 hours is what I personally would consider appropriate to see if they were going to get better. We all have to do what we think is best. I would have done the same thing as the chick was getting weaker and weaker. It's done. The OP feels badly enough the way it is. Let it go.It could have been something like a temporary paralysis due to hanging the chicks head and pinching some nerves or whatever.......
I would have waited a few more days, up to a week! Poor little chicky probably had more fight in him.
Hey
Guys I’m deeply saddened to tell you guys that I put her/him down, the chick wasn’t getting any better we tried everything, even save a chic but it wasn’t showing any condition of getting better it kept gasping for air and had became a lot weaker
X100!!We all have to do what we think is best. I would have done the same thing as the chick was getting weaker and weaker. It's done. There is no reason to bash the OP now. He feels badly enough the way it is. Let it go.
