Yep, he's definitely ready for the brooder.
Should be okay, do you not have a thermometer though?Alright I'll send another - I've turned it on, it should reach 37.5, the normal body temperature, but there's no control
Such an adorable little guy!

If not, it'd be a good idea to buy one asap so you can make sure it doesnt get too hot or too cold!
Sorry about the late reply! My phone died last night so i'm in a bit of trouble since I can't send anymore pictures or videos over - hoping to sort out a new one today!Such an adorable little guy!
could you get some pictures of him while his legs are out? Is there a material in the brooder box that has some grip?Sorry about the late reply! My phone died last night so i'm in a bit of trouble since I can't send anymore pictures or videos over - hoping to sort out a new one today!
I'll also order in a thermometer today! I only have those under the tongue ones for people, cooking one and an aquarium thermometer, don't think they'll work. Oh, but I put him into the brooder yesterday.
I was expecting a lot of noise but the little guy's been relatively quiet - he spends most of his time under the brooder, and he only pooped twice yesterday - green poop, and ate a tiny bit of food, so I slept the night - but I'm hoping he eats more today. He can run short distances, and gets up on his legs a little bit - but his legs still slide out from under him often and he sits with his legs out at times, is that normal? I haven't really had the chance to see him move because he's been sleeping all this time.
He's also VERY nippy - keeps chomping my face and fingers all the time when it's near or i hold him - then again he keeps biting at nothing too. Writing one handed atm because I jinxed myself!
I'll try borrowing someone else's phone to take pictures!could you get some pictures of him while his legs are out? Is there a material in the brooder box that has some grip?
He will sleep a fair amoung the first 24 hours, but should start to pick up. If you don't see him eating or drinking during today, you could try encouraging him. Keep an eye on his poops, if you have him on a starter crumb, they should be more the colour of that food, so keep an eye and watch for a change.
I also found a duckling I can buy - it's an appleyard, and I think it's 2 weeks old? Is that still too big of a gap?could you get some pictures of him while his legs are out? Is there a material in the brooder box that has some grip?

yes, you can take him out of the brooder. I'd actually reccomend this a few times a day since he has no siblings, he'd enjoy the company and he's likely to have imprinted on you. Just don't take him out for too long or let him get too cold. Plenty of time in the brooder to eat drink and warmI'll try borrowing someone else's phone to take pictures!
And yes, I lined the floor with pee pads so he does have grip to walk around. He actually ate a few moments ago; didn't drink yet but managed to dunk himself twice lol. The crumbs are greyish but his poop is green, probably because he just started eating?
I have a question though, am I allowed to take him out of the brooder? When he wakes up, he just wants to be in my hands and ends up falling asleep at which point I put him back under the heater.
I would say 2 weeks is too big an age gap, but I'm not certain, there may be something you can do so that your duckling has a friend once he's a little bigger. If I were you I'd get a few opinions from some more duck owners!I also found a duckling I can buy - it's an appleyard, and I think it's 2 weeks old? Is that still too big of a gap?
