Please help me identify Frank N Chicken

I agree that EE gets used far too often, but I also think that many people either own or know someone that has EEs in their flock. EEs have become more common chicken seen in backyard flocks. I agree that He could have one parent with barring genes and the other parent possibly a EE. I had a roo similar to your, but white shoulders instead of red. Anything is possible, so, he could have been created by a mix of other breeds. But, I will post a pic of the roo I had that was half EE and the other half I'm not sure of (Dom mix dad or BSL mom or BSL cross parent) . Anyways....here is a roo (about 10months old) I had along with two of his hatch mates (two pullets with one parent also being a EE).

He's obviously not a full Dominique. No way to tell if the "extra" addition was an Easter Egger...if it was a hen you could obviously wait and see if it laid colored eggs, but I don't think you'll ever know in this case. He's bearded, so Dominique crossed with something bearded. I think that's about as close as we can get.

lots of mixed breeds have that color. I had a dominique buff orpington mix that was the exact same color. male red sexlinks are this color. color has absolutely nothing to do with being an EE unless you are looking at whether or not a particular bird is an Ameraucana or an EE. EEs may have colors that are more commonly found in EEs, but there are absolutely no colors that are only found in EEs. the color you are seeing is the roo having both barred and red genes. you can find those colors in many many different breed combos, most of them not involving EEs at all. it is the cushion comb plus beard that makes me say EE, not the color. the color simply says mixed breed rooster.

Wow, thanks everyone! There are some definite trends to the guessing - although no one seems to be guessing he is a roo. I guess I knew that, I just hoped for a different result. He makes no noise right now, so he can stay. Once the crowing starts, though....well......anyone near Raleigh want a handsome roo? LOL.

Thanks again everyone - I'm loving this forum. Learning a lot!

There is no guessing if he's a roo, he has pointed hackle(neck) and saddle(back) feathers.

The guessing part was for the breed mix. The hoping part was for the sex.
