You can start by looking through the American Poultry asstociation website and american bantam association. There are also various clubs by particular breed where you can get showing info or go to meetups and learn.
Also try www.gcspf.com -Greater CA Society of Poultry Fanciers.

I love going to the shows and showing. People are always happy to share their knowledge. I was nervous before my first serama show but once I did it, it was easy. Wish you could have gone with me to the last one. If you find another I can make it to, I'll be happy to go with you and explain what I know.

For my first show, I gathered as much information as I could on-line and then I just packed up my bird and went. I spent the first day wandering around saying "I've never done this before, what do I do?" Everyone was really nice and pointed me to the place to sign in, told me how to find my cages, pointed me in the direction of the bedding and water.

Better yet, they were happy to show me their birds and tell me about them.

If you can get to a 4-H show and are lucky to go to one with a good judge, you can watch the showmanship and listen to the judge explain what he is doing and what he is looking for. If you are showing in open, you don't have to do showmanship, but you can learn a lot by listening. I learned how to show eggs by watching the 4-H judge judge the eggs and listening to what he is looking for.

Let me add to the original question,
Does one need to have their birds they want to show checked or vacinated or anything like that before showing?
If so how does one find someone to do that?
Does one have to register before the show?
How much does it cost to show a bird?
