I have 2 chicks that seemed to have spraddle legs. I had the brooder divided to keep these 2 safe from the others. Well one with spraddle leg did so well that she jumped the 4 inch baracade, bandaid brace and all and introduced herself and blended right in with the others. I thought she was missing.
Anyways, the other one is not doing very well and several times I almost culled her.
In addition to spraddle leg, her toes were all messed up so I made little soles out of duct tape, that does seem to help. She also seems to have a swollen abdomen. No pasty butt. And sometimes she shakes.
The biggest problem is her energy though. She closes her eyes almost all the time, sleeps almost all of the time and will not eat and drink on her own yet. (she is 2.5 days old) Yes, I think it is possible she is still on her yoke nutrition but today I have been very diligent at making her drink water enriched with starter. I also gave some yogurt. Just in the last few minutes I noticed she is making more effort to stand and when I entered the room her eyes were open.
Is there anything else I can do? (pretty far from a store, if there is something I should buy, I would not be able to until tomorrow. )
