Hi!!
My chicken’s comb turns black now and then and I noticed he is sneezing a lot as well. He also shakes his head a lot and I have no clue what is wrong with him. He also squints his eyes and blinks really slowly now and then. However, he’s been eating and drinking well. Please help me since my chicken means a lot to me and I don’t wanna lose him.

Thank you! image.jpg image.jpg

Was the comb becoming darkened before he started sneezing and shaking his head? Can you see any bubbles in his eyes on one side? Does his face look swollen around his eye to you? It sounds like he has a respiratory disease. Some common ones are infectious bronchitis, mycoplasma (MG,) coryza, and ILT. Hopefully, it is mild and he will get over it in time. It can be normal for some roosters with large combs to darken at the back or tips, especially if stressed or cold, and then pink up at other times. But it could also be a sign that he is not getting enough oxygen. Here are some of the diseases listed above with symptoms:

Yes the comb does darkened before he started sneezing and shaking his head. I don’t see any bubbles in his eyes or on the sides. It might be respiratory disease like u said since I can hear his breathing now and then. I don’t exactly know how to treat him though because it’s been going on for a few weeks and now it’s starting to get very noticeable. Could you recommend me with something that could help him get over this?

thank you,
Hannah
