PLEASE HELP! Muscovy duckling with a lump in its neck!

Diff something to consider since bee sting doesn't seem probable now that it's cooler, although it's cooler here and the wasps are acting strangely and our ducks got too close to a yellow jackets nest last week and my dh had to take care of it. Thank goodness everyone ran when the jackets started swarming. Have you or do you have yellow jackets?

Like Amiga said, this could be an injury. Ducklings can get into all kinds of trouble. Feeling the vertebrea will give a clue. Do NOT pull. I sprain/break could heal on its own but you just want to get the direction of the bones.

We did have a yellow jacket nest in the wall of the duck house some weeks ago, here. I got rid of them.

But there are still some yellow jackets around and they can get aggressive, and a duckling doesn't have much to protect them from bites and stings.

I don't mind bees at all but Yellow Jackets I do not like at all. I hope she can figure out what is going on with her duckling.

Hopefully we have a tb test or pd test coming up for our cattle then I'd be able to steal the vet away. If it doesn't go down in a few days and my bf doesn't know whats wrong then I'm definitely considering a vet trip. It just feels squishy but ill check bone enlinment tomorrow. I'm very gentle with her so it's definitely not a dropping incident and the ducklings all get along fine so no bullying going on. She Seems to be the same as usual with regards to behaviour also, but all this could change by tomorrow

Thats good, is your duck eating and acting normal other than the swelling in the neck? having trouble swallowing? spiders of any kind? all spiders have venom to some degree.

Because shes the smallest (i think) she is very quiet and still is. She seems healthy. I have noticed the other ducklings are very puffy on their chests, could this one just be like that but lop sided? Although she is the only one with a rather big vein on the back of her neck...

Its so confusing lol.

And we have no poisinous spirers in this part of england. Elsewhere i dont know aha

Do you think it could just be the crop and because your duckling is so small it is showing up more? the crop is where they store the food while chewing it up before it goes into the stomach. She could be eating alot and it is just showing up big, after my chickens have been eating all day you can really see the crop stand out on the left side of the body right where the neck attaches to the body especially noticeable on chicks. as far as the vein I don't know about that. but how does it's neck look in the morning compared to afternoon and evening? can you get some poultry vitamins and add them to her water?
