I have on hand saline solution and blue cote. Going to clean it with the saline and apply blue cote for now.
I don't see any puss or discharge from it.
She is 4.5 months old

Also I just culled a very aggressive rooster two days ago, possibly he is/was the cause of this, IDK.

BTW, the rooster I culled is not the same one I'm giving away...I wouldn't do that to someone else, give them my problems.

It looks like the eye may be injured? I see a small place on the eye lid.
Look for signs of wound or insect bite.
Does she have any coughing/sneezing or respiratory distress?
Is it only the one eye?
Is she lethargic too?

I would flush with saline, look in the eye for anything that may be in there and remove it. You can use an ophthalmic ointment like Terramycin or Vetericyn eye gel 2X a day. Some use triple antibiotic ointment in the eye (like plain/original Neosporin).

IF you feel that the swelling is not due to injury or insect bite, she could have a respiratory illness. Mycoplasma and Infectious Bronchitis are both fairly common. Antibiotics can help with secondary infections, use Tylan50 at .20ml per pound of weight 2-3 times day for 5 days, but you still want to remove pus/debris from the eye, keeping it flushed and apply ointment 2X a day.

Thank you very much for the in depth reply.
She is eating normally and does move around pecking but not as much as the rest of the flock, she often chooses to perch under the porch.
I think I agree it's an injury and will get Vetericyn eye gel.
I'm thinking that rooster pecked her eye, he was really rough on the RIR I have for some reason.

You didn't apply blue kote did you? You're not supposed to get that in the eyes.

I would definitely apply terramycin opthalmic ointment but can you open the eye itself what does it look like?

Yes I did but very carefully with a dabber around the eye, not in at all.
It is only one eye that is affected, the rest of her looks normal in every way.

I haven't tried to open the eye at all, going to get the medicine first before attempting that.
Unfortunately I have to get ready to go to work a 12 shift tonight so it won't be until on my way home in the morning that I can get the stuff.
