Whatever antibiotic you give I recommend giving for full 2 weeks.A lot of times people stop antibiotic to soon and infection returns. The problem with that is when it returns it has built up defense against antibiotics. If the amoxicillin helped, perhaps it was not given long enough. Keep us posted on how she is doing.
That makes so much sense. It also makes me thankful that the way it turned out i have a different kind of antibiotics this time around. I knew I was risking it stopping the antibiotics butI started to overthink it and worried about the impact on her little organs of prolonged antibiotics. I'll keep it up this time because if the infection returns next time she might not be around long for me to worry about her organs.Whatever antibiotic you give I recommend giving for full 2 weeks.A lot of times people stop antibiotic to soon and infection returns. The problem with that is when it returns it has built up defense against antibiotics.
Glad to here she is recovering. There have been several posts about chicks suffering from symtoms similar to your chick.I cant help but wonder if this is beginning of some new epidemic that is starting. In case anyone was wondering but nervous about asking, she’s getting better and better every day... both growths![]()
I had never heard of it and couldn’t find anything online and after that last post where she was starting to get better she grew new weird yellow spots that would crust over. I started a third kind of antibiotics which again tricked me into thinking it was getting better. She ended up so crusted from head to back even though I bathed her daily and put neosporin on that her skin started to crack open. I had to euthanize my sweet loving chick. I still have no idea what the hell it was. Thank God no other chick got it so it obviously wasn’t communicable, just some hideous disease. Poor thing.Glad to here she is recovering. There have been several posts about chicks suffering from symtoms similar to your chick.I cant help but wonder if this is beginning of some new epidemic that is starting.
Thank you. It makes me sad that 4 of her 7 weeks involved discomfort. That being said, she was held and bathed and spoiled with treats for her short life. It's unsettling though not to even know what it was. I still unrealistically expect that every chick/chicken that crosses my path with thrive and be happy. I don't anticipate getting used to the loss part :/Well wasn't your fault. The other posts with people's chicks that had same issue as yours. There chicks didn't make it either.
