I have never had this breed of chicken before. It is a Cream Brabanter, loved the Mohawk. Was suppose to be a hen but over the last couple of weeks I've been noticing that its looking more like a rooster. The hatch date was 2/12/14. I live in an area where I can't have roosters and will have to give it away if it is a rooster. I was hoping that this fabulous group of chicken owners would be able to advise me. Thank you to everyone that will give me their opinion. Have a Blessed Day!

Thanks for all the replies. I hate that it did turn out to be a rooster. I am in the Texas Hill Country and as I said before, I can't keep him but I don't know what to do with him. Is there anyone in the Texas Hill Country that could give him a good home? If you can, please e-mail me at s[email protected]

Sorry your brabanter turned out to be a roo. I hope you can find him a good home because he is beautiful. I am setting my broody up with brabanter eggs tomorrow and I already told her she better hatch out all hens or else

I love roosters but here in california it is hard to re-home them. My neighbors already hate me because I have 3 roosters. Roosters really have a hard life because no-one wants them. I really feel that people should be more tolerant of the noise because we need them to take care of the hens. I havent lost a hen since I have been keeping roosters. Even thou they are bantams they still watch out for the big girls and try and protect them. On the other hand all 3 of my roosters fight each other. They are fine with people, but each other....well that is another story. I have to keep all three in separate coops and that is a pain. Oh well, God made them for a reason and that is good enough for me.
Take care all,
Marie

Thank you. I wish I could keep him too but I can't. If I can't find him a home I can return him to the place I bought him, they will give me a credit for what I paid for him but I really hope to find him a home.

Thank you to everyone who responded to my rooster question. I thought it was a he too. Just hoping. However I did find a local breeder who recently discovered the breed and was happy to swap me my roo for a pullet. Here's my new girl. Hope everyone's having a terrific day!
