Please help! New chick mom☺️

I will check pet smart now. Not to sound stupid but where do I get tofu from? I know the store but what section. I have never seen it before

I'm glad for you! The tofu and wet crumbles is a really great idea! I have never thought of doing that before but I will definitely learn from you ha-ha! I'm getting about 5 silkie chicks next Thursday and I'm so excited but I'm preparing myself for the inevitable-That I may lose one :( . Good luck with your little chicks!

Depends on the store - I see it in our Kroger in the produce section near the organic produce along with wonton wrappers, etc.

Yes! Most health food or grocery stores sell "blocks" or strip of tofu! Its usually pretty cheap!

As stupid as it sounds, tofu is found where the lettuce and spinach and other fresh produce is located. It comes in soft and firm and extra firm. It doesn't matter which you pick up. It all tastes the same to chicks. But crumble it up before giving it to them. They don't always know what to do with a solid block. They like small bits of food.

It's cheap, a couple bucks for a pound.

I found it!! Thank you all. None of them will touch it. They look and walk away. Any idea how long I can keep it in there before it goes bad

I am so jealous. Our store doesn't sell silkies so I can only special order them. With a minimum of 5. 7 if I go with cackle hatchery. Can't wait to see pics of your babies!!

Well, I'll be jiggered, azygous!  Tofu!  Brilliant!  That's a trick I'm going to file away in my "just in case" memory bank for sure.  You ARE good!  I had a chick that did the neck weaving thing in last year's batch.  I didn't know what to do, or even how to ask the question on here back then.  So I just kept picking her up and rubbing that "lump" down in the evening.  I didn't even know what I was doing or why I was doing it.  She did it a few times and each time I did the same thing.  And she recovered.  She's now known as Agatha - Scout's mom.  Thanks!  I'll remember this if I run into it again!

Just curious if when your chick was doing the neck thing if she acted like the other chicks or was more calm?

She stayed off by herself when the neck thing was going on, but once she was "cleared" she interacted with the others and did all the normal stuff. It was odd - I probably should have posted the question here on the forum but instead I just searched the threads for stuff that sounded similar to what I was seeing ----- and got endlessly confused then. Wry neck? Birth defect? Neurological? Impacted crop? Sour Crop? Crop issue was the only thing that consistently seemed to fit, so I started rubbing.

And this is Agatha all grown up, with her baby Scout. She recovered fine with no further issues.
